Curriculum

Wulguru State School is a collaborative and collegial learning community that empowers teachers to create inclusive and engaging learning experiences for all students.  Students from Prep to Year Seven participate in hands on and interactive learning experiences that incorporate and align with the Curriculum into the Classroom (C2C) and Australian Curriculum.

Teachers’ tailor all learning experiences so they are relevant and extend students as required to enable them to become independent and active participants in their own learning.

The explicit teaching of Reading is a major focus for all students at Wulguru State School.  Each year level has weekly targeted reading lessons with a group of 14 trained staff to explicitly teach guided and reciprocal reading to students.  Every student has their reading progress monitored to ensure their progression over the school year.

YUMI Maths is a pedagogy that is being used in classrooms to teach numeracy concepts in a fun and hands on manner.  The purpose of YUMI is to link lesson content to its real life application and build on each student’s knowledge through activities that require all students to build, create and demonstrate mathematical understanding with their bodies and minds.
